Privacy Policy
Effective 31 October 2026. This policy covers the WDM OS mobile app (Android, iOS) and its web version.
The short version
WDM OS has no accounts and no server of its own. Everything you log stays on your device. We do not collect, sell or share personal data, and the app contains no analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs.
Meal photos are analysed on your device and are never uploaded. The only food-related network request is a barcode lookup at Open Food Facts, described below.
What the app stores, and where
Body weight, measurements, progress photos, food and water logs, workouts, notification settings and money entries are stored in a local database on your device (in the web version: in your browser's site storage). Progress photos are copied into the app's private storage and never leave the device.
The food features add three more things to that local database: a history of what you logged (used to put the foods you eat most first and to remember which dish you picked for a photo), the results of barcode lookups (kept for 30 days so a repeat scan does not need the network), and the portions you used last. None of it is sent anywhere.
Meal photos
Photo recognition runs entirely on your device, with a small model that is bundled inside the app. The photo is read by that model and nothing else: it is not uploaded, not sent to Open Food Facts, and not sent to any AI service. The app does not save the photo in its database. A photo you take with the camera, and the resized copy the app makes for the model, sit in the app's temporary cache folder, which the system can clear at any time. Photo recognition is only available in the Android and iOS app; the web version does not analyse photos.
The result is a suggestion for you to confirm, not a measurement. Calories always come from a food table stored in the app and the grams you choose, never from the photo.
Network access
- Barcode lookups (Open Food Facts). When you scan or type a barcode, the app asks Open Food Facts (
world.openfoodfacts.org, a non-profit, crowd-sourced food database) for that product. The request contains the barcode number, your IP address and the app's User-Agent (WDM-OS/1.0 (yuroka@yuroka.net), which Open Food Facts asks every app to send). In the web version your browser sends its own User-Agent instead. Nothing else is sent: no photo, no food log, no account, no device identifier. A lookup happens only when you scan or enter a code, not in the background. Open Food Facts handles that request under its own privacy policy. - Web version only. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which also receives your IP address.
- Web version only, barcode scanner. In a browser that has no built-in barcode detector, the scanner downloads its WebAssembly decoder (zxing-wasm) from the jsDelivr content delivery network the first time you scan, so jsDelivr receives your IP address. The camera image itself is decoded inside the browser and is not uploaded.
No other network calls are made. Notifications are scheduled locally on the device; no push service is used.
Permissions
- Notifications (and on Android, exact alarms): reminders you configure, such as weigh-ins, water, protein and workouts.
- Camera (optional): only when you choose to scan a barcode, photograph a meal, or add a progress or reference photo. The microphone is never used.
- Photo library (optional): only when you choose a meal photo, progress photo or reference photo yourself.
Deleting your data
Individual entries can be deleted in the app. Uninstalling the app (or clearing the site's browser data on the web) removes everything.
Children
WDM OS is for people aged 13 and over. The app asks only for a birth month and year, keeps it on the device, and refuses setup under 13; it does not collect data from anyone, children included. Users aged 13 to 17 get teen mode (see the Terms).
Health information
The numbers and interpretations in WDM OS are personal tracking aids, not medical advice. See the Terms of Use.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address. Questions: yuroka@yuroka.net.
